The Galapagos Islands... there is nothing in the world quite like them. It is a dramatic yet beautiful world of volcanic landscapes and fearless animals: Giant Tortoises, Fur Seals, Sea Lions, Land and Sea Iguanas and many species of birds. A visit to this impressive wildlife sanctuary will be a memorable experience for those who appreciate nature.

The Galapagos Archipelago is situated 800 kilometers west of the Ecuadorian coast and lie directly on the equator. The archipelago encompasses over 50 islands of volcanic origin that are spread out over an area of about 4,500 square kilometers. The volcanic Galapagos platform originated probably not more than 15 million years ago and the oldest island not more than 2.4 million years ago. Volcanic eruptions still occur in the islands. Isla Fernandina and the Sierra Negra volcano on Isla Isabela have erupted within the past 10 years.

The Galapagos became famous with Darwin's publication of Voyage of the Beagle and Origin of Species. A scientific collection expedition of The California Academy of Sciences in 1906 also helped bring the Galapagos to attention of scientists and the public. Galapagos National Park was established in 1959 to protect the unique flora and fauna of the islands. That same year the Charles Darwin Research Station was founded in Academy Bay on Isla Santa Cruz.

Traveling aboard a yacht assures a unique experience in the islands and allows visitors to appreciate their mystery and tranquility. Leaning over the bow, passengers can watch the dolphins playing on the bow wave just a few feet away... or relax on deck in a quiet anchorage ... wander along a desolate beach watching the ghost crabs scuttle into their holes, while boobies and pelicans wheel and dive just beyond the surf.

We offer an opportunity to see the Galapagos Islands aboard comfortable motor yachts, motor sailers and sailboats. Our small sized groups allow visitors to see the best sites, some of which are off limits to large cruise ships.

The itineraries are flexible to take advantage of seasonal highlights; such as whales surfacing, varying weather and ocean conditions, and unexpected occurrences like volcanic activity. Each boat has a full crew including a multilingual naturalist guide who has been trained and licensed by the Galapagos National Park Service and the Charles Darwin Research Station.

Participants do not need boating experience but should be prepared for life on board. For those who want a sense of adventure and can accept a minimum of luxuries, yacht travel will be exhilarating.
