Ikoma Gorge Campsite

This quiet campsite is located just outside of the Serengeti National Park in the Grumeti Game Reserve. There are good facilities for basic camping safaris and situated on a rocky promontory a short distance away a small permanent luxury tented camp for use on lodge safaris.

The camp provides a good base for game drives in the Seronera and is outstanding for game viewing foot safaris and night drives - both of which are not allowed in the Serengeti. Local guides are available and highly recommended as the area is rich in game and unspoilt bush country. The nearby Grumeti River provides an attractive target for a medium length circular walk. Along the way points of interest include old defences used by the local tribes against Maasai incursions.

Facilities at the campsite include toilets, showers, covered dining and cooking areas.

In line with our Eco-Tourism Policy the funds collected from visitors to the campsite are in part used to assist the local Maasai community.
