JAVA – BALI OVERLAND

“This is one of the world's classic overland routes. Your " journey through time " begins in Jakarta and travels through lush Indonesian countryside to Bali. You climb Mount Bromo, enjoy superb beaches and discover remnants of Indonesia's past empires, including a visit to extraordinary Borobudur Temple (The Largest Buddhist Temple) and Prambanan Temple (One of the biggest Hindu Temple in the world)”

JAVA – BALI OVERLAND

Duration: 15 DAYS / 14 NIGHTS

Start: JAKARTA

Finish: KUTA – BALI

DAY 01: JAKARTA AIRPORT – IBIS TAMARIN HOTEL (3 Star)

You are met and transferred to your Hotel in Central of Jakarta. There is plenty to see and do in Jakarta, and your guide is on hand to point you in the right direction. There will be a pre-trip briefing this evening to meet our fellow and this often followed by a meal together.

DAY 02: JAKARTA – BOGOR – BANDUNG (PERDANA WISATA HOTEL – 3 Star)

You escape the steamy atmosphere and frantic pace of Jakarta with a visit to the tranquil Botanical Gardens at the Old Dutch hilltop retreat of Bogor. The drive over Puncak Pass (1600 m) to Bandung is one of Indonesia's most spectacular road trips. Orderly rows of tea carpet the landscape and rich garden terraced paddies re-shape entire hills, while tall stands of bamboo complete the spectacular mosaic (B).

DAY 03: BANDUNG – PANGANDARAN (SURYA PESONA BEACH HOTEL – 3 Star)

Today we make our way to Pangandaran, a narrow isthmus with the best beaches on the south coast of Java. We travel through fantastic scenery and reach the beach in late afternoon, just in time for a swim (B).

DAY 04: FULL DAY TOUR PANGANDARAN

Morning after breakfast, leave the hotel for a day excursion by visits Pangandaran national Park, home of hundreds “Long-tail Macaque”, Wild buffalo, Barking deer and other few species of animal. Country-side excursion to see the local people doing their daily activities and the Home Industries where local people make a Cocking oil, Brown sugar, Cracker etc.  Visit “Green Canyon” one of the most famous tourist attraction in Pangandaran. Afterward return to hotel, rest of the day is free own your leisure (B).

DAY 05: PANGANDARAN – ANAKAN LAGOON – CILACAP – YOGYAKARTA (DUTA GUEST HOUSE – Standard accommodation)

The backwater trip from Kalipucang to Cilacap is a highlight of any visit to this area. The 4-hours journey travels across the Anakan Lagoon passing fishing village en route. We arrive in Cilacap and continue by road to Yogyakarta (B).

DAY 06: FULL DAY TOUR YOGYAKARTA

One of the most impressive sightseeing in Java is Borobudur Temple, the largest Buddhist monument in the world and Prambanan the Hindu's Temple complex. We take a day trip from Yogyakarta to this incredible site (B).

DAY 07: FREE DAY YOGYAKARTA

Yogyakarta is a favorite of many travelers and certainly one of the Indonesia's most pleasant cities. This is the cultural center of Java and the best place to see Wayang performances and traditional dance. As Yogyakarta is a major craft center it is one of the best places to shop in Indonesia. Many artists reside here, offering very fine batik and modern paintings. The Sultan's Palace, the water castle of Taman Sari, and interesting markets can all be seen in a day of sightseeing. Today is free day to wonder and explore this delightful town (B).

DAY 08: YOGYAKARTA – BROMO (BROMO PERMAI HOTEL – Standard accommodation)

We travel today to Mount Bromo, an active volcano that stands at 2,329 meters. It is located in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The slope of the mountain is cultivated by the local Tenggerese farmers with the market of vegetables. The Tenggerese history can be traced back to the peoples of the Majapahit Kingdom who fled their land following an eruption from Mount Merapi. They are the only group of Hindus left in Java today. We have an early night in preparation for the sunrise climb tomorrow (B).

DAY 09: BROMO – LOVINA BEACH (ANEKA BEACH HOTEL – 3 Star)

The best time to climb Mt. Bromo is very early morning to reach the summit for dawn. It is seldom cloudy at this time of day, and the views are spectacular, the volcanic surrounding surreal. We begin our climb before sun rise and then return to our Hotel for breakfast before we continue our journey to Bali.  We cross the narrow straight and arrive at Gilimanuk where the northern route takes us to the fishing village of Lovina and our accommodation for the next couple days (B).

DAY 10: LOVINA FREE DAY

The day is free to relax on the beach, a well-earned rest after the early start yesterday! The beaches are black here in the contrast to the south, as the sand is volcanic. There is a good snorkeling on the reef and a trip out on local boat can be organized locally for those who are interested (B).

DAY 11: LOVINA - UBUD (UBUD VILLAGE HOTEL – A Boutique hotel)

You may want to wake up early and join a morning excursion to hopefully see the playful dolphins cavorting off the cost before we make our way inland to the tranquil beauty of Ubud (B).

DAY 12: UBUD FREE DAY

Ubud is the cultural center of Bali and home to a number of artists. Galleries are found everywhere in town. There are plenty of walks to enjoy within town itself or to the neighboring villages which have managed to maintain their distinct identities (B).

DAY 13 : UBUD – KUTA (ANEKA BEACH HOTEL – 3 Star)

Leave the hotel after breakfast to continue our journey southward to Legian Beach. En route stop to enjoy performance of “Barong Dance”. Afterward “Alas Kedaton” the monkey forest before visit the famous “Tanah Lot Temple”

DAY 14: FREE DAY

Day is free own your leisure to relax your last day in Bali by relaxing on the white sandy beach of Kuta.

Kuta is Bali's biggest tourist beach area. It's still the best beach on Bali, especially since the activities of the hawkers have been restricted, and watching the spectacular sunset is almost an evening ritual. Kuta has the only surf on the island, which breaks over sand instead of corals, and the beginner surfer can wipe out without being cut to pieces on the reefs.. There is a huge choice of places to eat, and a growing number of shops with everything from genuine antiques to fake fashion items  (B).

MORE INFO ON OVERLAND TRIP

Please note that Indonesia is a developing country whose infrastructure, values, customs and standards may differ from what you expect in your homeland. Expect poor road conditions and be prepared for some inconveniences such as  restaurants and other tourist sites being closed from time to time Sometimes the transportation may be altered or the itinerary may be changed due to circumstances beyond our control.

As this is an overland journey, you can appreciate there are many long drives involved as we travel from western side of Java right through to the eastern side of Bali.

The walk to the rim of Mount Bromo is not a difficult one; however, for those opting no to participate can relax and simply stay in bed.

Accommodations; In major centers you stay in centrally-located hotels, on twin-share basis, with private facilities. Most of these are air-conditioned (except hotel in Bromo - 2,200 m above sea level) and swimming pool (except hotel in Jakarta & Bromo).

Indonesia Climates; Indonesia enjoys a year-round tropical climate distinguished by monsoon. The temperatures are consistent year round and average between 22 and 29 degrees Celcius. The dry season is from May to September. From October to March you can experience tropical downpours. Most rains fall from December through to February.

Indonesia Cuisine: The staple diet is rice. The food is good and inexpensive. "Satay" and "gado-gado" are two local dishes which are known internationally. Bottled water is available right throughout Indonesia and it is suggested you to drink this instead of tap water.

Important: Before you travel please check your Tour Voucher and Arrival Information for the latest joining instructions. This will be sent to you upon receipt of final payment.
