We arrange bicycle trips from 1 day up to 5 day trips. These are led by a local English speaking guide. On all the trips, your luggage will be transported by our supply vehicles, either a jeep or motorbike. We provide high quality mountain bikes for all our trips. It is also possible to combine bicycle trips with trekking.

The most amazing road in Vietnam - 1 day, ref. B1A

(Sapa - Heavens Gate – Binh Lu - Sapa)

 

What to expect:

 

You would cycle as much as you wish with this trip. Apart from the most beautiful scenery the region has to offer, you will have the chance to encounter with other ethnic minorities who are living in Binh Lu.

 

Itinerary:

 

You will commence the trip from Sapa going uphill to the Silver Waterfall. From here you will cycle up to Heavens Gate, the highest stretch of road in Vietnam. Here you will experience the stunning views across the valley. You will then travel by bicycle downhill toward Binh Lu. We will stop for visit Bo village of Black Thai people, we also have chance to visit Pa Pen village on the way before you arrive in Binh Lu., where you will have lunch. In Binh Lu you will be able to visit the local market. From Binh Lu it is also possible to take another 1 hour on the bike and 1 hour walking to visit a remote village inhabited by the Dao minority. 

A long day of activity, adventure, and of course a fantastic nature experience is almost over. It is now time for the drive back to Sapa.

Downhill into Sapa valley - 1 day, ref. B1B

(Sapa – Ban Ho – Thanh Phu - Sapa)

 

What to expect:

 

This trip will bring you to the end of the Muong Hoa Valley. You will not only enjoy it beautiful scenery, but also encounter with the Tay and Red Dao ethnic minorities, who hardly visited before.

 

Itinerary:

 

You will cycle into the Sapa valley and experience the fantastic scenery of mountains and rice paddy fields along the way. You will visit the Black Hmong village of Su Pan and then continue mostly downhill to the Tay village of Ban Ho, where you will enjoy lunch and have time to explore the village and take a swim in the river. After lunch you will be able to take a walk up to Red Dao village of Nam Toong. Here you have time to visit the local school and a Red Dao house. After exploring Nam Toong you walk back to Ban Ho where your car is waiting to take you back to Sapa.

Topas Ecolodge and Red Dao village, ref. B1C

(Sapa – Topas Ecolodge – Lech village – Sapa)

 

What to expect:

 

The trip itself is a combination of mountain biking, sightseeing and visiting Topas Eco Lodge, a unique mountain resort one of its kind. Along the ride, you will be able to enjoy magnificent views to beautiful landscapes, lunch at the Lodges and a visit at the nearby Red Dao village.

 

Itinerary:

 

You head out from Sapa by cycling downhill into the Muong Hoa valley and then Ban Ho valley. The ride offers beautiful views to fantastic scenery of mountains and rice paddy fields along the way until you arrive in the Lodge. Here you will enjoy lunch in the Tay stilt restaurant.

After enjoying lunch, you will take a pleasant walk to visit the Lodges. The Ecolodge consists of 25 individual lodges placed in a circle around the hills. From the Lodge, there are breathtaking views across the scenic valleys below, which are home to villages of Tay, Red Dao and Xa Pho minorities. Later you will cycle over to the nearby Red Dao village of Lech. Here you have time to explorer the daily life among the Red Dao minority. After visiting the Red Dao village you cycle back to the lodge from where you will return to Sapa by car. (L)

Down Hill to Red Dao Village of Taphin - 1 day, ref. B1D

(Sapa - Heavens Gate – Silver Waterfall – Taphin – Sapa)

 

What to expect:

 

Heavens Gate, Silver Waterfall and Taphin are the most popular destinations in Sapa. This trip not only offer you the opportunity to visit them all  in one day, but also for its most beautiful stretch of road for cycling.

 

Itinerary:

 

As you head out in a jeep to the highest stretch of road in Vietnam, you will see Heavens Gate pass, also called Heavens Gate. From here you will return along the same route by bicycle passing some amazing and breathtaking views on the way down. After having a short break in Sapa, you will continue the descent toward Lao Cai. Just outside of Sapa, you will take a left turn into a small paved road leading to Taphin village, where you can experience the unmixed cultural life of Black Hmong and Red Dao minorities, 2 largest ethnic groups in the area. After enjoying lunch in a local house, you will cycle back to the main road, where you continue the ride uphill to Sapa town (Optional you can have a pick up in Taphin by car).

Hill Tribe Ride - 1 day, ref. B1E

(Sapa - Matra – Ta Phin - Sapa)

 

What to expect:

 

This newly developed trip will bring you through the hidden valleys of Sapa.

 

Itinerary:

 

You will start your bicycle ride downhill towards Lao Cai, and just outside Sapa town you will turn on to dirt road. The road is real adventures, downhill in the beginning, crossing bridge, some places you have to get off and lift the bike over small streams. You pass through Black H’mong villages and have time to to talk to the friendly villagers. The road will then be up and downhill, but the scenery is more and more stunning, and you will have time to stop and enjoy the view. You can also visit the local school on the way. If the weather is with us, you will have lunch in a nice picnic spot, or you will visit a local house to enjoy the lunch box. After lunch, you will continue the ride and enter Taphin village from the back way. You will experience the daily life of the Back Hmong and Dao minorities, who are living together in the village, and then start cycling through the village’s main gate to the main road, where you continue the ride uphill to Sapa town (Optional you can have a pick up in Taphin by car).

Hill tribe visit on bicycle - 2 days, ref. B2A

(Sapa – Ban Ho – Thanh Phu – Sin Chai - Sapa)

 

What to expect:

 

On this trip, the ride takes you along Muong Hoa valley and then deep into Ban Ho valley, which is home to Tay, Red Dao minorities. You will enjoy beautiful landscape, meet friendly local people and spend one night in Topas bamboo huts, which can be a unique experience that you have ever had.

 

Itinerary:

 

Day 1: Sapa - Ban Ho - Thanh Phu - Sin Chai (L,D)

 

Your trip starts from Sapa. You cycle downhill on a windy road, which goes along Muong Hoa valley. The valley is home to Black Hmong, Giay and Red Dao minorities. From the road you will have many opportunities to enjoy amazing scenery of mountains and rice paddy terraces as far as the eyes can see. After a short break in Su Pan, you will cycle downhill on a dirt road until you reach Thanh Phu village of Tay minority. Here you stop for lunch in a traditional Tay house.

After lunch, your ride will be mostly uphill; you head toward Sin Chai village of Red Dao minority.  Here you will have a tasteful dinner in a local house and stay overnight in the bamboo huts built by Topas Adventure.

 

Approx: 5.5 hours cycling/ 1 hour lunch.

Up / Straight /Down – 10 km/ 3 km / 20 km.

 

Day 2: Sin Chai – Nam Nhiu - My Son – Ban Ho – Sapa (B,L)

 

Today’s ride will be a little softer. You will pass by some tinny villages. You can stop by a local school and give children some small gifts such as pens or books. You will also be able to meet Xa Pho minority, one of the smallest ethnic group, which cannot be found in other areas. You will pass by Thanh Phu and continue to Ban Ho.

In Ban Ho you will enjoy lunch in a local house. After lunch, you will take a short walk to the nearby river, where you will be able to have a swim. You can take a break and have a cup of tea in a Tay house before you get on a car for a journey back to Sapa.

 

Approx: 1.5 hour driving/ 4 hours cycling / 1 hour lunch.

Bicycle trip to Tam Duong, ref. B2B

(Sapa - Heavens Gate – Binh Lu – Tam Duong – Sapa)

 

What to expect:

 

The trip itself is a combination of mountain biking on the most amazing road in Viet Nam, sightseeing and walking. Along the ride, you will be able to enjoy magnificent views from the pass, a short walk to Silver Waterfall as well as experiences of visiting villages of Black Hmong, Lu and Thai minorities.

 

Itinerary:

 

Day 1: Sapa – Heavens Gate – Binh Lu  – Ban Hon (L,D)

 

You first travel by car uphill toward Heavens Gate. On the way, you can take a short walk to Silver Waterfall and then head to Heaven Gate, where you will be amazed by breathtaking view to mountain surrounding included Fansipan, the highest peak of Indochina. Your ride will be mostly downhill toward Binh Lu. We will stop for visit Bo village of Black Thai people, we also have chance to visit Pa Pen village on the way before you arrive in Binh Lu. Here you will have lunch in a local restaurant.

After lunch, you turn in a dirt road to the villages. You will have time to stop by Pa Pen village of Lu minority and then Na Hum of Thai, two group ethnic minorities, which cannot be found in Sapa area. You are in a beautiful valley of rice paddy terraces and Limestone Mountain surrounded. You will arrive in Ban Hon village of Lu minority, where you spend a night in a local house.

 

Approx: 40 minutes driving/ 6 hours cycling/ 1 hour walking.

Up / Straight / Down – 12 km/ 14km / 41 km

 

Day 2: Ban Hon - Tam Duong - Binh Lu – Sapa (B,L)

 

The next morning, you cycle toward Tam Duong town. You pass by several villages stretching along the way. The ride is relatively flat. You will be able to visit the market in Tam Duong, where you meet Flower Hmong, Black Dao and Lu minorities. You stop by a local restaurant for lunch.

In the afternoon, you start on your journey back towards Binh Lu. There is almost no traffic and you will cycle through small villages and meet different ethnic minorities. The ride will be mostly downhill and flat. On the way, you can visit a Black Dao village, where you may find a beautiful handicraft for souvenir. Eventually, you arrive in Binh Lu. You will be able to take a short walk to stretch your legs before you get on the car on a journey back to Sapa.

 

Approx: 1.5 hour driving/ 5 hours cycling/ 1 hour lunch.

Up / Straight /Down – 15 km/ 7 km / 28 km

 

Note:    The back road from Binh Lu to Tam Duong can turn in muddy and slippery in rainy time and a small river can come high. Therefore, the itinerary can be changed in bad weather. The night spent in local house in Ban Hon could be changed into hotel accommodation in Tam Duong.

 

 

Market on wheels – 2 days, ref. B2C

(Lao Cai – Coc Ly – Bac Ha – Lao Cai)

 

What to expect:

 

This trip offers you an opportunity to explore the area by mountain bike, which makes the trip much more challenging and interesting. On this trip you will visit several villages. You will also be able to visit Bac Ha Market, the very famous and colorful market of the area. Here you will meet Flower Hmong, Black Dao, Phu La, Nung and Tay minorities. The trip offers you a boat ride along Chay River with beautiful scenery and caves.

 

Itinerary:

 

Day 1: (Saturday) Lao Cai – Coc Ly – Boat Trip – Bac Ha (L,D)

 

After having breakfast, you will travel by car or cycle from Lao Cai Railway Station. The ride is relatively flat from Lao Cai. It will take you through rural area. The road is rougher for the last 16 km. You arrive in Coc Ly, where you start a boat cruise downstream Chay River. Along the ride, you can enjoy magnificent sight of the beautiful caves and life on the riverbank. You will have lunch on a beach or later in Trung Do village of Tay minority, where you can stop by a traditional Tay house for a cup of tea. After lunch, you first cycle on the dirt trail through the village and cross a narrow stream. Your ride will be then on a good road, which goes uphill toward Bac Ha town. You stay overnight in a hotel and have diner in a local restaurant. (L,D)

 

Approx: 6 hours cycling/ 1 hour boat cruise/ 0.5 hour walking/ 1 hour lunch

Up / Straight / Down – 22 km/ 55 km / 8 km

 

Day 2: (Sunday) Bac Ha - Lao Cai  (B,L)

 

After having a morning coffee, you take a short walk to visit the old castle of the former Hmong King. From there you can have a view over the town. You will then visit this huge market with its colorful array of ethnic minority people such as Flower Hmong, Phu La, Black Dao, Tay, Nung who gather to buy and sell. After spending the whole morning exploring the market, your lunch will be served in a local restaurant. After lunch you will be able to take a nice ride around nearby beautiful Ban Pho village of Flower Hmong and Nung minorities. After visit Ban Pho village you start heading back towards Lao Cai by cycle or by car. The ride will be mostly downhill and flat through rural area, which is home to Phu La, Nung and Tay minorities. Before you arrive in Lao Cai, you will be able to stop by china – Vietnamese border, where the Red River flows into Viet Nam territory. You will have time for shower and dinner before you get on a night train to Ha Noi. (B,L)

Note:   The trip could be started and finished at Sapa or Lao Cai Railways Station, according to your wishes. There will be supply car provided. Markets on wheels - 3 days, ref. B3A

(Lao Cai – Can Cau – Bac Ha – Bao Nhai – Lao Cai)

 

What to expect:

 

This 3-days mountain bike trip takes you through beautiful countryside and intriguing villages. You will have the opportunity to observe the local minority communities at work, tending their fields in the shadow of the Chay river massif. The overnight stays in Bac Ha will give you the chance to explore the villages and visit the local market. You will also be able to visit the Can Cau market as well as enjoy a boat cruise in the Chay River. 

 

Itinerary:

 

Day 1: Friday (L,D)

 

After having breakfast, you will start out from Lao Cai by cycling on good flat road leading towards Bac Ngam. You pass by peaceful countryside of the Red River valley. Villages and rice fields are all along the way. You arrive in Bac Ngam by noon, where you stop for a picnic lunch.

In the afternoon, you will have a long and sometimes steep ascent to the final destination of today, Bac Ha. Should you feel tired from riding the bike, your jeep will pick you up and give you a lift to Bac Ha. You will check in a hotel, where you will stay for the next two nights. A cold drink, a shower and a tasteful dinner will complete this day, and make it one to remember.

 

Approx: 6 hours cycling/ 1 hour lunch

Day 2: Saturday (B,L,D)

 

Today is time for a special market experience: the Can Cau market. The road between Bac Ha and Can Cau is hilly but extremely beautiful. The ride will take you around 1 and a half hours. The products on the market are interesting, as well as the groups of ethnic minority people represented make the market an unforgettable experience. You will spend all the morning to walk around the market exploring its magnificent chaos. You will have picnic lunch on the way.

In the afternoon, you head back to Bac Ha. You will be able to take a nice ride to Ban Pho village of Flower Hmong and Nung minorities, which is nearby Bac Ha. The villagers grow vegetables and fruit trees. One of the most famous fruit of the area is plum. You will be able to visit a local house, where you might have chance to taste a cup of corn wine, another famous product of the village. You will spend another night in the hotel

Day 3: Sunday (B.L)

 

After having a morning coffee, you take a short walk to visit the old castle of the former Hmong King. From there you can have a view over the town. You will then start out from Bac Ha by cycling downhill to Bao Nhai, where we get on a boat to have a cruise on the Chay river. It is a perfect way to finish your trip by sitting in the boat exploring the life at the riverbank. You will then have a transfer to Lao Cai Railways Station for the night train back to Hanoi.

Northwest on Bike – 3 days, ref. B3B

(Sapa – Binh Lu – Ban Hon – Tam Duong – Paso – Sapa)

 

What to expect:

 

The trip itself is a combination of mountain biking on the most amazing road in Viet Nam, and sightseeing. On this trip you will enjoy magnificent views, and beautiful ride along Na River as well as to visit villages of minority people, which cannot be found in Sapa area such as Lu, Black Dao and Thai.

 

Itinerary:

 

Day 1: Sapa – Heavens Gate – Binh Lu  – Ban Hon (L,D)

 

You first travel by car uphill toward Heavens Gate. On the way, you can take a short walk to Silver Waterfall and then head to Heaven Gate, where you will be amazed by breathtaking view to mountain surrounding included Fansipan, the highest peak of Indochina. Your ride will be mostly downhill toward Binh Lu. Here you will have lunch in a local restaurant.

After lunch, you turn in a dirt road to the villages. Day 2: Ban Hon - Tam Duong – Pa So (B,L,D)

 

The next morning, you cycle toward Tam Duong town. You pass by several villages stretching along the way. The ride is relatively flat. You will be able to visit the market in Tam Duong, where you meet Flower Hmong, Black Dao and Lu minorities. You stop by a local restaurant for lunch.

You will start out from Tam Duong by cycling uphill along picturesque tributary of the Na River.  You will see some places of gold exploration along the river.  You also pass by many villages of Thai minority spreading along the way before reaching to Pa So.  You will stay overnight in a newly open hotel located by the riverbank.

 

Approx: 5 hours cycling/ 1 hour lunch

Up / Straight /Down – 15 km/ 6 km / 30 km

 

Day 3: Pa So - Chinese border – Sapa (B,L)

 

After breakfast, you will cycle to Sino - Vietnamese border. The ride is flat on a bumpy road along river until you meet a small border town. You will be back to the hotel for lunch.

After lunch, you start your journey back to Sapa by either cycling downhill as far as you can or sitting in the car all the way back. You will have time to enjoy beautiful scenery passing by.  You might have chance to watch the sunset and take amazing pictures from the pass before you arrive in Sapa.

 

Approx: 4 hours driving/ 1.5 hours cycling/ 1 hour lunch

Note:   On the whole trip you will have a supply car, which can give you a lift whenever you feel tired. The itinerary between Binh Lu and Tam Duong on the back road could be changed due to high level of the river. Therefore the night spent in the local house could change into hotel accommodation.

 

 

Northwest on Bike to Dien Bien Phu – 4 days, ref. B4A

(Sapa – Binh Lu – Ban Hon – Tam Duong – Paso – Lai Chau – Dien Bien)

 

What to expect:

 

This mountain bike trip will take you to some of the most scenic areas in Northern Vietnam. You are travelling through stunning mountainous landscape to the highest stretch of road in Vietnam, called Heavens Gate. You will cycle downhill to Tam Duong passing through Binh Lu. Along the way, you will pass by picturesque villages and rice paddy fields of breathtaking beauty - you are sure to need more than one photo stop on this journey. You will also be able to walk around the small town of Lai Chau. On the last day you will arrive at the historically famous town of Dien Bien Phu.

 

Itineraries:

 

Day 1: Sapa - Heavens Gate - Binh Lu - Tam Duong

You will start out from Sapa by cycling up the Vietnam's highest pass to "Heavens Gate". A break at the top of the pass will give you the opportunity to enjoy the picturesque view of the Sapa valley and the long snake-shaped road, which you will pass by later. You will then continue the cycle through the fantastic mountainous landscape to Binh Lu, home to a number of ethnic villages such as the Black Dao, The Giay... You will then probably need the help of the supply jeep to go up another high pass, before enjoying the easy ride downhill all the way left to Tam Duong.

Data day 1:

Distance: 73 km ( 15 km in jeep)

Up / straight / down: 18 km / 3 km / 37 km

 

Day 2: Tam Duong - Phong Tho - Paso

 

If today falls on Thursday or Sunday, you will be able to visit the Tam Duong market, which always delivers a very photogenic display of White H’mong, Flower H’mong and Giay ethnic costumes.

You will start out from Tam Duong by taking the jeep to the pass between Tam Duong and Phong Tho. From there you have a 15 kilometers downhill ride on a dirt road before turning right towards the market town of Phong Tho, situated on a picturesque tributary of the Na River. A small road then leads you through the unexplored area of a number of ethnic villages and acres of lush riverside banana plantation to the small village, before reaching to Pa So.

 

Data day 2:

Distance: 75 km (15 km in jeep)

Up / straight / down: 7 km/ 13 km / 30 km

 

Day 3: Pa So - Lai Chau

 

The road today weaves its way through the picturesque Na river valley, past many small villages of Red and White H’mong, Kho Mu and White Thai ethnic minorities. The sound of the river running below follows you all along the ride until you reach to Lai Chau early afternoon. Then you will have the opportunity of having a walk around in the small town, soft trekking in the mountains, floating downstream the river...or just taking a shower and relax over a cup of coffee or a beer.

Distance: 50 km

Up / straight / down: 10 km / 30 km / 20 km

 

Day 4. Lai Chau - Dien Bien Phu

 

Today is the easiest day on the trip. You will start out by jeep for the first 30 km before cycling downhill to Muong Lay village. The road from Muong Lay to Dien Bien Phu is sealed, making your ride more enjoyable. Again today you will pass more ethnic villages of White Thai, Red and White H’mong and Kho Mu minorities. 

In the afternoon you will reach Dien Bien Phu and 4 amazing adventure days on the bikes are over.

Northwest to Dien Bien Phu, ref. B5A

(Sapa – Binh Lu – Ban Hon – Tam Duong – Paso – Lai Chau – Dien Bien)

 

What to expect:

 

This mountain bike trip will take you to some of the most scenic areas in Northern Vietnam. You are travelling through stunning mountainous landscape to the highest stretch of road in Vietnam, called Heavens Gate. You will cycle downhill to Tam Duong passing through Binh Lu. Along the way, you will pass by picturesque villages and rice paddy fields of breathtaking beauty - you are sure to need more than one photo stop on this journey. You will also be able to walk around the small town of Lai Chau. On the last day you will arrive at the historically famous town of Dien Bien Phu.

Day 1: Sa Pa – Heavens Gate – Binh Lu – Tam Duong (L,D)

 

You first travel by car uphill toward Heavens Gate. On the way, you can take a short walk to Silver Waterfall and then head to Heaven Gate, where you will be amazed by breathtaking view to mountain surrounding included Fansipan, the highest peak of Indochina. Your ride will be mostly downhill toward Binh Lu. You will stop by Chu Va village of Black Hmong for a break before you arrive in Binh Lu. Here you will have lunch in a local restaurant.

After lunch, you start to cycle mostly uphill for the rest of today, which requires incredible effort. You will be able to stop by a village You will then probably need the help of the supply car to go up another high pass, before enjoying the easy ride downhill all the way to Tam Duong, where you stay overnight in a hotel.

 

Approx: 40 minutes driving/ 5 hours cycling/ 1 hour for lunch

Up / Straight / Down: 17 km/ 8 km / 25 km

 

Day 2: Tam Duong – Border - Paso (B,L,D)

 

You will start out from Tam Duong by cycling uphill along picturesque tributary of the Na River.  You will see some places of gold exploration along the river.  You also pass by many villages of Thai minority spreading along the way before reaching to Pa So.  You stop for lunch in a local restaurant.

You will then continue the ride on a flat road toward Sino – Vietnamese border. You will enjoy a beautiful ride along river. You head back to Paso later to spend the night in a hotel, which locates by the river. You will be able to enjoy a cold beer on the balcony with beautiful river view.

 

Approx: 5 hours cycling/ 1 hour for lunch

Up / Straight /Down: 30 km/ 19 km / 21 km

 

Day 3: Pa So - Lai Chau (B,L,D)

 

Today’s ride will be mostly downhill. You will have time to enjoy beautiful scenery as well as stop by a village of Thai minority, the largest group ethnic in this area. You still follow the road, which goes along the Na River until you arrive in Lai Chau in the early afternoon. You check in a hotel and have a late lunch.

After having a rest, you will be transferred to the river, where you take a boat ride downstream in the Black River. You can make a stop to visit a village of Thai minority and hear about their daily life on the riverbank. A friendly atmosphere makes your trip more enjoyable. The boat takes you further downstream. You will be transferred back to the hotel in the late afternoon.

 

Approx: 5 hours cycling/ 1-2 hours boat cruising/ half an hour walking/ 1 hour for lunch

Up / Straight /Down – 30 km/ 10 km / 40 km

 

Day 4: Lai Chau - Dien Bien Phu (B,L,D)

Today will be a longest ride. You will start out on a good road, which makes your ride very comfortable. You arrive in Muong Lay by noon. Here you will be able to take a walk around a local market. You will have either lunch in a local restaurant or pic nic lunch prepared by the hotel.

After lunch, you head toward Dien Bien Phu. You will continue on the good road and the ride is even more enjoyable in a beautiful nature. The ride will be downhill and then flat upon your arrival in Dien Bien Phu. The busy town is surrounded by mountains and huge rice fields. Here you spend the night in a hotel. You will be able to take a walk to a nearby market to spread your legs.

 

Approx: 7 hours cycling/ 1 hour walking/ 1 hour for lunch

Up / Straight / Down: 40 km/ 40 km / 20 km

 

Day 5: Dien Bien Phu - City tour (B,L)

 

After having breakfast, you will have an interesting bicycle trip around the town to visit famous historical sites such as Dien Bien Phu Museum, Glory Statue, A1 Hill and De Castrerie Tunnel. You will be back to the hotel for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport for a flight to Ha Noi.

 

Approx: 1 hour cycling / 1,5  hour visiting / 1 hour for lunch

Up / Straight /Down: 0 km/ 6 km / 0 km.

 

Note:   On the whole trip you will have a supply car, which can give you a lift whenever you feel tired.
