Gate Route - 2 days, ref. F2A
What to expect:
Fansipan itself is an attraction of Sapa area as well as Northern Vietnam.
The peak is a part of Hoang Lien mountain range, which is under the
protection of Hoang Lien National Park. The trip offers you an opportunity
to explore the beautiful nature and challenge yourself.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Sapa – Heavens Gate – 2900m
(L,D)
You are having a couple of interesting days waiting ahead.
You
travel by car toward the Silver Waterfall where you will be able to take a
short walk to the waterfall. You will then drive further to Heaven Gate, the
highest peak of roads in Vietnam. From there you can see Fansipan, the
highest peak of Indochina mountains as well as enjoy stunning views. The
trek will be relatively soft until lunchtime.
After a couple of hours of
hiking, you will have a break at a nice spot in the forest and enjoy a good
lunch.
With new energy you start ascending as well as descending
towards the campsite.
En route
you have many opportunities to enjoy the scenery and magnificent views to
Sapa area and beautiful landscape of Lai Chau province. You will arrive to
the campsite at
2900m ASL in the late afternoon. Now
it is time to relax and enjoy a well prepared dinner.
Approx: Grade 3 of 5/ 0,5 hour driving/ 5 hours walking/ 1
hour lunch.
Day 2: 2900m – the top of
Fansipan – Heavens Gate – Sapa
(B, L)
After
having breakfast, you climb to the top, where you can celebrate your
victory. From there, you can enjoy the best view to beautiful sceneries. You
will then trek through rainforest to go back to the campsite for lunch.
After
lunch, you start your journey back. You follow the trail as well as stone
steeps built by Hoang Lien National Park until you meet your car, which is
there to take you back to Sapa. In the afternoon you will arrive back in
Sapa, where you can celebrate your achievement and relax.
Approx: Grade 3 of 5/ 0,5 hour driving/ 7 hours walking/ 1
hour lunch.
Note:
Climb a 3413m ASL Mountain in just two days takes some effort, endurance
and plenty of high spirit. The night will be spent in tent with toilet tent
provided. The trip is not recommended in bad weather due to safety.
Sin Chai Route – 3 days, ref. F3A

lunch, you start the tough trek, which is all the way downhill through
rainforest. This part requires a great concentration to step on steep trail
until you meet the campsite at 2700m ASL. Here you spend another night in
tent.

Day 3:
2700m – Sin Chai – Sapa
(B,L)
You wake
up in the fresh and pure morning in wild nature, before heading back to
civilization. You trek downhill through well protected forest and after a
couple of hours of hiking, you stop for lunch.
You will
then continue descending toward Sin Chai village of Back Hmong minority. On
the way you will be able to enjoy valley views and beautiful surrounding.
You stop at the village for a while before you go by car back to Sapa, where
you can celebrate your achievement and relax.
Approx: Grade 3 of 5/ 0,5 hour driving/ 6 hours walking/ 1
hour lunch.
Note:

campsite places are subjected to change due to the size of groups and
weather conditions, which will effect relatively to the grade level and

Cat Cat

Itinerary:
Day 1: Sapa – Cat Cat – 2300m (L,D)
You will travel by car mostly downhill toward Cat Cat
village of Black Hmong minority, which locates right at the foot of Hoang
Lien mountain range. Here you start heading up the mountain. After a couple
of hours of hiking, you stop for lunch nearby a river.
After lunch, you climb toward the campsite at 2300m ASL.
Here you spend a night in tents. You can stretch your leg by taking a short
walk around while your guide will be cooking dinner.
Approx: Grade 3 of 5/ 15 minutes driving/ 6
hours walking/ 1 hour
lunch.
Day 2: 2300m - 2700m - 2900m - 2600m (B,L,D)
Today’s trek will continue
as soon as you finish breakfast. You trek deep into the mountains and wild
nature. By noon, you spend some times for lunch.
In the afternoon, you
ascend toward the peak of 2900m ASL before descending to the campsite, which
locates at 2600m ASL. Here you spend another night in tent before climbing
to the top of Fansipan.

Day 3: 2006m – the top of
Fansipan – 2900m (B,L,D)
Today you head to the top of Fasipan, which is the highest
peak of Indochina. You get to the top after a couple of hours of ascending.
Here
you can
enjoy the best view to beautiful sceneries and celebrate your victory. You
will then descend to a nice spot for lunch.
After
having lunch, you descend again until you arrive in the campsite, which
locates at 2900m ASL. Here your last night in the mountain will be spent in
tents.
Approx: Grade 3 of 5/ 6 hours walking / 1 hour lunch.
Day 4: 2900m – Heavens
Gate – Sapa (B,L)
Today’s trek will be soft compared to the others. After
putting down the tents, you start descending the mountains. You will follow
trail and steps built of stone by Hoang Lien National Park. You stop for
lunch before heading out the mountains.
You arrive in Heavens Gate in the early afternoon. Here you
get on the car on the journey back to Sapa after the big loop in the
mountains.
Approx: Grade 3 of 5/ 40
minutes driving/ 5 hours walking/ 1 hour lunch.
Note:

village of Black Hmong minority in the late afternoon. Here you spend the
night at a campsite nearby Muong Hoa river. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Y Linh Ho – Seomity
(B,L,D)
Today’s trek will be
mostly uphill until lunchtime in a beautiful part of Hoang Lien National
Park. On the way, you have many opportunities to enjoy valley views. After a
couple of hours of hiking, you stop at a nice spot for lunch.
The trek
will be softer in the afternoon. But the scenery becomes even more
beautiful. You pass by Seomity village of Black Hmong minority before you
arrive in a campsite, which locates nearby a river outside the village.
While porters put up tents and cook dinner, you can take a walk to stretch
the legs. (L, D)

Day 5:
Seomity – Den Thang - Ta Trung Ho
(B,L,D)
The trek
today takes you through beautiful rice paddies and over old suspension
bridges. You will
trek on small trail sneaking through rainforest. You arrive in Den Thang
village of Black Hmong by noon. Here you stop for lunch either nearby a
river or in a local school according to the weather.
After lunch, the trek will
becomes tough on tinny footpath going up and down, which requires a lot of
concentration. You will reach to Ta Trung Ho village of Red Dao minority
where you spend the night in local house. Both the valley and the village
have just received foreign visitors. The night will be even more interesting
when you are in the wonderful hospitable atmosphere of the Red Dao.

Day 6: Ta
Trung Ho - Nam Toong – My Son – Thanh Phu (B,L,D)
You are now at the fringe
of the rain forest by the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. Fansipan, the
highest peak in Indochina with its 3143 m, is located in this mountain
range. You will start the trek today by ascending to Nam Toong village of
Red Dao minority. Here your lunch will be prepared in a local school.
After lunchtime, you descend to the valley where locates My
Son village of Xa Pho minority, one of the
smallest groups ethnic in Northern Vietnam. From there you take a short walk
to Thanh Phu village of Tay minority. Here you spend the night in
traditional house of the Tay.
You can
take a walk to explore local daily life while your dinner will be served
with Vietnamese dishes.

Day 7: Thanh Phu - Nam Cum – Sin Chai (B,L,D)
Today’s trek will be relatively short and soft. Once leaving Thanh Phu, you
follow the trekking route built in the bottom of the valley, which offers
the best view to the surrounding mountains. You stop at a nice spot for
lunch.
After lunchtime, you
continue the walk toward Sin Chai village of Red Dao minority where the
night will be spent in bamboo huts. You will be attracted by the wonderful
hospitable atmosphere of the Red Dao.

Day 8: Sin
Chai - Thanh Phu - Ban Ho (B,L,D)
Today’s
trek takes you through several villages where you will be able to meet Tay,
Hmong and Xa Pho ethnic minorities. You will have time to photograph the
beautiful rice paddy terraces and the surrounding mountain. On the way you
will visit a local school. Your lunch will be prepared and served in a
traditional Tay house in Thanh Phu.
In the
afternoon, you head toward Ban Ho. You will trek along Muong Bo River where
you can enjoy a refreshing swim nearby a waterfall before you arrive in Ban
Ho. Here you spend the last night in a Tay house. You will have chance to
taste rice wine with friendly Tay people during the meal.

Day 9: Ban Ho
– Su Pan – Sapa (B,L)
Today
will be very relaxing; take an easy walk around the village, visit a local
school, go swimming or just sit in the balcony to read book and enjoy the
views. You will have lunch before heading uphill toward Su Pan.
After
lunch, you trek all the way uphill. On the way you can enjoy the valley
views while taking a rest. You will pass by a tinny village of Red Dao
minority where you may find a small souvenir for your trip. Once you get to
Su Pan, you start your journey back to Sapa by car.

Note:
The 9 days trek takes incredible effort, endurance and plenty of high
spirit. The itinerary can be changed due to high water level in the river
between Seomity and Ta Trung Ho. There will be no toilet facilities in the
National Park area. Toilet tent will be provided. The trek is only
recommended to real trekker.

The trek becomes tough today on tinny footpath going up and
down, which requires a lot of concentration. You will reach to Ta Trung Ho
village of Red Dao minority where you have lunch in local house. Both the
valley and the village have just received foreign visitors. You will enjoy
the wonderful hospitable atmosphere of the Red Dao.
After lunch, the trek will
be mostly downhill. You are now at the fringe of the rain forest by the
Hoang Lien Son mountain range. You follow footpath through rice paddy
terraces. Before hiking up, you stop by a waterfall with beautiful pools
nearby. From there you make all the way downhill toward Ban Ho village of
Tay minority. Here you spend the night in a traditional tay house.

Day 7: Ban Ho – Thanh Phu
– Sin Chai (B,L,D)
Your today’s trek through
Ban Ho valley will start after morning coffee and delicious breakfast. You
will cross several suspension bridges before you arrive in Thanh Phu village
of Tay minority. On the way you will be able to visit local schools. Before
lunch you trek uphill toward Thanh Phu. Here you stop for lunch in a local
house.
After lunchtime, you head
to Sin Chai village of Red Dao minority where the night will be spent in
bamboo huts. You will be attracted by the wonderful hospitable atmosphere of
the Red Dao.
Approx: Grade 2 of 5/ 4 hours walking/ 1 hour
lunch.
Day 8: Sin Chai – Nam Nhiu
– Nam Than – Sin Chai (B,L,D)
You leave Sin Chai for the day trek. You trek on a dirt
road, which lead to Nam Than village of Red Dao minority and Nam Nhiu of
Green Hmong. On the way you will be able to visit local schools, where you
can give children little presents such as pans and books. You will have
lunch in one of those local schools.
After lunch, you head back to Sin Chai, where you spend the
second night in bamboo huts. You will be able to take good rest and good
sleep for refeshment before the long last day trek.
Day 9: Sin Chai – Nam Ket – Ben
Den – Lao Cai (B,L)
After a good sleep in bamboo hut, you wake up for an early
breakfast and repack your luggage for the long trek heading toward Lao Cai.
Once you leave Sin Chai, the trip takes you into a
fabulously mountainous area, the most remote part of Sapa. En route you meet
children’ curious eyes as you are very first tourists passing by. Red Dao
ethnic minority inhabits the entire area. You will enjoy the fresh of bamboo
forest and jungle until you make a stop at Nam Ket for lunch.
After lunch, your trek will be mostly downhill. After about
half an hour, you will have a opportunity to enjoy one of the most beautiful
view of days over a green valley lying along the Red River. You eventually
arrive in Ta Thang village of Tay minority. Here you will be transferred by
car to Lao Cai. You will be able to have shower and dinner before you catch
the night train back to Ha Noi.

Note:

between Seomity and Ta Trung Ho. There will be no toilet facilities in the
National Park area. Toilet tent will be provided. The trek is only
recommended to real trekker. This trip will easily combine with the transfer
to Lao Cai railway station without repeating the way or passing by Sapa.
